Iquion steps up, holding a seven track EP and is currently poking it in your direction. Halicon is an atmospheric journey through various blends and flavours of Iquion's sound as he bounces between rythms, leads and moods, dragging the listener along with him, showcasing the flow of his grooves and the taste of his vibe. This EP overally sets a mood of disturbance, howling sarcasm as one track grabs you and drags you onto the next ... One big intensively flowing ride pushes through a mask of innocence ... www.yomirecords.com/yrtwo/94-ep.html

Who is Iquion actually? I was expecting a follow up to the original Iquion project from several years ago, and even though I'm somewhat reminded of it, I understand this time around it's an actually an EP by a so called "Iquion"? Vowthorn perhaps? Quite enjoying the sound as I'm listening to it now. Innovative, dark, light, experimental...all with sound quality due aside. The realisation just sounds too 'amateur' from what I would've liked to hear, but the ideas are certainly never dull. It just doesn't sound as 'impressive' as it could have been, if you know what I mean. Compression would certainly help to bring out the best in the sound, and technically everything just sounds so 'direct' and lifeless with almost everything panned dead centre. It's certainly as if I'm presented with what's "being held in my direction", and "being dragged along while being showcased the groove and vibes" however, but that's really where it ends. I'm more or less left feeling indifferent. I want to delve deeper into the sound, and yet I only seem to be presented with a set of snapshots. Certainly not bad ones, however. Ending was a bit odd and abrupt, though. Oh well, I guess it just takes more than one listen. Biggup to whoever "Iquion" is for a nice showcase of work here.
