YR # 091 :: Untitled 2track EP - FahFah is at it again, unleashing two terror technoish tracks upon Yomi, one of which is a mellow combination of destructive electro horror and its sequel being a true spine ripping oldskool acid massacre. Combining mayhem and soul, Fah has put together an effeciƫnt dancefloor pandemonium which will surely keep heads knodding, feet tapping and terrorists bombing. www.yomirecords.comwww.yomirecords.com/yrtwo/91-ep.htm

well, if I could suggest a title for this untitled EP it would be "memory". These two tracks have some deep oldskool vibe, so deep that I think I heard such tracks before I was born. The duality between the acid sounds and the soft strings is very very visual. It reminds me of some experimentations made a few years ago with a couple of friends on a cracked version of rebirth. It reminds me of some psytracne tracks played in a white opel, of my old bmx, and many other things. This is a really really good ambient work and I enjoy listening to it. Big up, Fah!

hmm, nofold ... when i think oldschool it's usually a dirtier sound, like legowelt or skinny puppy demos, with a lot of saturation and fuzz but i'm with you on the memories! 4 on the fuckin floor with rebirth, i did 2 tracks when the sidstation sample-replacement kit came out for that software. aaah those were the days. i wish the kick did something a little more interesting (like syncopating where it falls in a funky mess) at the end of each bar, but that's ok ... the beat in the first track gets really cool @ 3:20 ... when i was listening for the change the way the kick just quit was blunt but the first time through i was just surpriseded to hear the new beat when the sound thinned out right before 4 minutes ... !!! and the flute/pads sounds there are real nice. again, strange how they just CUT off. a touch of reverb or delay on the end might help that? are these live jams? anyway--love the kick sound. gated or cut off or whatever is done to it, very stab/punch, yessss. and the end of the track takes me back to a harder afx ambient works mood w/ the repetative by not-so-simple drumloop and pads flowing all around in and through it. the second track REALLY shines though, it seems to have a lot more energy and follows the structure of the first one pretty closely (the way the beat is stupid, then there's a breakdown, then a more intellegent beat). the sounds are more ravey/authentic/accessable than the first track (which i guess is more industrial?). the way the breakbeat comes in and you still mix the old 4down on it is cool, it all goes together smoothly and doesn't sound glitched when parts drop out ... maybe it's just the high bpm. and it's nice how you switch back and forth more in this one, rather than the one change in the first track. slowed down beat and warped 303emu at 2:45 are GREAT the 303 could be fucked with more as the pads come in, it gets a little boring ... but once the drums are back it's all working together again. the end is climatic and full, it cuts off just right. nice work!
